Principal's Message
I take pleasure in my position as Secondary Principal for Bloomburg ISD. The community of Bloomburg has made me feel very welcome, and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the students of this community. Bloomburg HS has risen from the rank of Academically Acceptable to the rank of Exemplary in three short years. Texas schools are rated on four levels by the Texas Education Agency, with the worst being Academically Unacceptable, to the best being Exemplary. In 2007-2008 we rose from Academically Acceptable to Recognized. We maintained that ranking through the 2008-2009 year and 2009-2010 reached our ultimate goal of Exemplary. This fete was accomplished through the hard work and dedication of all members of the school community. We are extremely proud of this rating and plan to do everything possible to maintain this rating. Every member of our school community is very dedicated to this goal.
I graduated from East Texas State University-Commerce, now known as TAMU-Commerce in 1978. I began teaching kindergarten in Queen City the fall of 1978. I taught there for three years until the birth of my daughter, Laronda. I returned to teaching in 1983 after the birth of my son, Heath. I taught kindergarten in Vivian, LA. for one year and second grade in Redwater four years. I served as Gifted/Talented Coordinator and Director of Technology for three years in Redwater before becoming an educational consultant for Jostens Learning, a computer company, dedicated to the educational community. I served as senior educational consultant for the state of Oklahoma four years until we moved back to Texas. I then went to the McLeod school district where I served as K-12 Counselor for 11 years. While at McLeod, I completed a master’s degree in Counseling/Psychology and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. I left McLeod to come to Bloomburg and serve in my current position. While here at Bloomburg I have completed the qualifications for Superintendent. As you can see from this history of education, I believe it is important to be a lifelong learner.
I am enjoying being the principal of Bloomburg HS very much. To be entrusted with the task of helping your children become successful contributing members of society through the completion of their high school education is a task I relish. As the instructional leader for this campus I look forward to helping make BISD the “Best Small School in East Texas.”
